Heating and Air Maintenance for your Home

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Your home’s central heating and air conditioning system, more often times referred to as HVAC, is one of the primary elements of your home’s energy usage. While providing us with the indoor comfort level that we’ve come to expect, our heating and air conditioning systems eat up a large amount of power – but it doesn’t have to necessarily be so. There are a number of options available to get both your heater and air conditioner up to par with a little bit of heating and air maintenance.

It’s important to have your heating and air conditioning systems inspected and repaired by a specialist, since having it inspected or repaired by anyone else could wind up voiding any warranties it may have, and it should be inspected about twice a year – once for the heater and once for the air conditioning. Keeping up with the maintenance will help keep everything running smoothly, and help keep the energy bills down in the process.

While it’s important to have your heating and air maintenance performed by a professional, it’s also important to make sure you choose the right professional; a reliable and reputable company that’s going to back up everything that they say and do. Not all heating and air conditioning companies are going to offer the same services, let alone on the same level of quality.

It’s easy to spot the reliable heating and air companies from the others. For starters, you’ll see their name everywhere, and not just online. You’ll see their services vans and trucks, billboards with their company name, radio and television ads, etc. Aside from the offline advertising, you’ll also hear people talking about them more and more. They’re the ones that have been around for years and have shown growth throughout their lifecycle. They’re the ones that let their heating and air services speak for themselves.

There’re a few different things that the HVAC professional is going to go over when they come to maintenance your system. They go in depth, checking and inspecting basically every part of your entire system, from the cooling coils to the primary and secondary drains, electrical connections to the heat exchanger and burners. They’ll look at all the various parts and components, making sure that they’re up to par and not in need of replacement – replacing those that need it.

There’s good reason for keeping up on your heating and air maintenance, the main ones being saving on your monthly utility bills while being able to enjoy the warmth during the winter and the cool air during the summer. We all want to be comfortable, but we don’t want to have to pay out the nose for it. Regular heating and air maintenance will keep your systems running at efficiency for longer, effectively prolonging the lifecycle of your equipment. Replacement and upgrades can be pricey, so why not keep the system you have now running like new for longer?

Fall HVAC Maintenance Service Check

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

With the 1st day of Autumn hitting us this Friday, it’s a little hard to believe that summer has already come and gone. While it might not feel like Fall just yet, rest assured that the cold months are going to be creeping up on us sooner than we think, making now the best time to schedule your HVAC maintenance service check. A little bit of preventative HVAC maintenance goes a long way.

We recommend two annual inspections of your heating and cooling system – one in the Spring for your air conditioner and the other in the Fall for your heater. The inspections themselves are done in order to ensure that the appropriate part of your overall HVAC system is up to par and ready for the demand that the upcoming season will place on it. For this Fall’s post, we’re going to focus on what a service check for your furnace means for you.

First we begin with checking the furnace’s overall energy efficiency. Most furnaces today are very energy efficient, so any unit coming up with a rating of 90 or less will most likely be in need of some repairs. Getting them taken care of early on can save a lot of money down the road, in both monthly bills and costly repairs. Next comes cleaning the soot and other byproducts out of the combustion chamber. Build up is common, so the technician will be using specially designed bushes and vacuums to clean the chamber.

After checking the burner itself, along with the tubes and various connections associated with it, we inspect and change out the air filters and, if need be, ensure that your home has clean air ducts, which is great if you want to improve indoor air quality. All winter long you would benefit from reduced dust levels, along with reduced levels of a good number of air pollutants. Combine that with high-energy efficiency and a fully operational HVAC system, and you’re looking at a calm and relaxing winter season – something we all deserve.

Regular AC Maintenance Extends Your System Life

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

Air conditioning and heating systems, like any piece of machinery, requires regular maintenance from time to time. Nothing big, replacing an air filter here, swapping out damaged or worn our parts and pieces here. Regular maintenance isn’t a new concept or anything, we take our cars in every three months or so for an oil change and we keep up on all the little stuff to help ensure that the vehicle will run for a long time. The same applies to your heating and air system, so why do people tend to neglect these most valuable and precious appliances and put off maintenance or repairs until It’s too late?

That’s a tough question, and the best answer that I can give is that people just don’t realize that they should be doing regular maintenance for their heating and air conditioning system. Regardless of the reasons, though, the majority of people just don’t seem to be getting their systems maintenanced, instead putting it off until the problems have become too big to ignore. Like having your AC just stops working in the middle of a triple digit day.

Truth be told, most of the extensive repairs and replacements we perform could have been avoided with a little routine maintenance. Typically, we like to come out twice a year and make sure you’re entire system is up to par; once in the spring for your AC, and again in the fall for your heater. It’s important to make sure everything is working properly and correctly in order to avoid a costly and unexpected repair later down the road.

Not only will regular maintenance help maximize the lifespan of your equipment, but it will also help ensure that your heating and cooling system is operating correctly and efficiently, keeping its energy usage at a stable rate so you don’t see the gradual climb in utility bills that comes with a declining heating and cooling system.

Save yourself time, headaches and money by letting us perform your bi-annual maintenance checks. Give us a call today and find out how easy it is to get started.

Growth in Rough Economy – How’d We Do It?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Company GrowthWe’ve been fortunate enough as a business to have experienced relatively continuous growth despite the rough economic times we’ve seen. While some luck was involved, it wasn’t nearly a deciding or determining factor in why we’ve grown while other companies have not survived the economic shift.

We believe that, as a business, you’re only as successful as your customers are happy. This has been a driving force behind our customer service policies, as well as a determining factor in the level of quality our services are performed at. We’ve managed to not only keep our head above water these past few years, but we’ve managed to grow. Essentially, there are 2 reasons why.

    1. Dedication and hard work. We wouldn’t be where we are today if we didn’t have the dedication and loyalty of each and every employee, staff member and technician. Every last one of us here at WC Heating & Air hold a high level of professionalism and take pride in our work. Because of this, each installment, repair or maintenance job is preformed to the highest quality available with a primary focus on long-term customer satisfaction.

  1. Never compromising quality. Throughout the years we have never faltered on the level of service we provide, and we believe that it has been crucial to our continued success and growth. In fact, over the years, we’ve increased the quality level of our services, as well as the benefits available to our customers.

There are various different ways for a business to keep their heads above water, but these are the ones that we’ve found to work for us.

Maintaining Your AC at Home – Tips and Tricks

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

When it comes to air conditioning maintenance, there are a couple things you can do at home to keep your AC unit running smoothly. Doing so will help keep your air conditioning system in good working condition and extend the time between necessary tune ups and service repairs.

First of all, you’ll want to make sure that there isn’t anything obstructing the air flow into condensing unit located outside. When air flow is obstructed by leaves, lawn furniture or anything that can prevent air flow, it makes the whole system work harder and increases the chances of individual components within the compressing unity failing and needing replacing.

Secondly, you’ll want to make sure that all of the access panels are properly secured. Rodents and other animals may try to get in for shelter or in search of food and cause some serious damage.

Change any filters regularly. A dirty air filter reduces air flow, increases chances of overheating and component failure. Disposable filters should be replaced, while electronic or electrostatic filters should be cleaned at least once every couple months.

Last, but definitely not least, be sure to have your entire system checked twice a year. Once before summer hits to make sure your air conditioning is clean and up for the challenge that summer brings and again in the fall, to make sure your heater is more than capable of keeping you and your loved ones warm come the dark and cold months of winter.

To Keep Cool Air In, Look to the Attic!

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

atticAttics are, for those of us who have them, typically the last thing on our minds, unless we’re digging out the Christmas lights. While they may not always be on our mind, they should never be forgotten, especially when it comes to keeping your home cool and your energy bills down this summer.

Attics tend to be pretty decent heat syncs. Heat has a natural propensity to rise,  so attics tend to get really hot on sunny summer days, even hotter than outdoors! So, the first step to keeping that hot air from finding its way back into your home is to make sure the attic is properly insulated and sealed from the rest of the house.

The second step is to look into an attic fan. Using vents to draw in cool air and force out the hot air, an attic fan can do wonders for keeping your house cool this summer. Since your AC won’t have to work so hard to keep your home comfortably cool, you’re monthly bills won’t get out of hand.

Attics play a big role in the overall temperature of your house, and should be treated as such.

Simple Way To Protect Your HVAC System

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Your HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) system is a pretty important part of your home, regardless of whether it’s at the forefront of our minds all that often. Like other aspects of our homes, like the plumbing and electrical wiring are just supposed to work, and your HVAC system usually isn’t any different. Unlike your electrical wiring and plumbing, there are steps you can take to actively protect your HVAC system from some uncertainty later on.

Like any other appliance in your home, your HVAC system requires electricity to work. However, one of the main differences between your HVAC system and, say, your TV (other than their obviously different designs and intents) is that a lot of people put a surge protector on their televisions. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said for your HVAC system.

Hooking up a surge protector can protect your valuable and somewhat delicate HVAC components just as well as it can your television in the event of a power outage – or more specifically, the power coming back on afterwards.

Introducing the RGF Guardian Air Purification System

Friday, July 16th, 2010

So, we’ve come up with yet another way to help with indoor air quality control. We have the routine cleaning of your air ducts, routine air conditioner maintenance, and now a new air purification system by RGF.

Guardian Air

And it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

The Guardian Air by RGF is designed to eliminate sick building syndrome risks by reducing odors, air pollutants, VOCs (also known as chemical odors), smoke, mold, bacteria, and viruses. Not only is this new air purification system effective at eliminating a vast majority of pollutants in your home, but it’s easy to install as well. But, how does it work?

Well, the HVAC-PHI cells (what’s used in the air purification system) are easily mounted into the central air and heating ducts where most sick building problems start. When the HVAC system is in operation, the HVAC-PHI cell creates an advanced oxidation process consisting of hydro-peroxides, super oxide ions and hydroxide ions.

That’s all well and good, but what does that actually mean when you break it down from the science jargon into simple English?

Basically, the oxidants this unit creates circulate around your home along with the treated air and neutralize microbials at the source. This means your home will stay cleaner, smell fresher, and be healthier for both you and your family.

Air Duct Diagram

Okay, so now we know how it works, but how well does it work? Well, an independent blind study showed that the RGF Guardian Air reduces gasses and odors by 85%, mold by 97%, Bacteria by 99%, and viruses by 99.99%. Sounds like it works pretty well to me!

We have decided to start offering this new product and service to our customers for one simple reason: We are dedicated to the quality of our work and the satisfaction of our customers. We want to help make your home a cleaner, more comfortable place for you and your family.

Beat the Summer Heat with WC Heating & Air

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

With summer basically here already, now is the best time to make sure your air conditioning system is running correctly and efficiently. As all of us in Temecula and the surrounding areas know, summers out here get hot. So hot, in fact, that at times you feel like you’re melting. Anyone who’s ever stepped foot in someone else’s house that doesn’t have working air conditioning during the summer knows just how miserable it can be. Basically, what I’m getting at here is that air conditioning in Temecula, and everywhere even remotely close to it, is pretty much a necessity if you want to survive the summers with your sanity intact.

With the summer heat getting ready to roast us all like a Thanksgiving turkey, you might want to think about getting your AC unit maintenanced. For most houses in Murrieta  air conditioning is pretty standard, so to keep them running efficiently (and to prevent them from running up your utility bill) you’ll want to get them regularly maintenanced. Regular maintenance will prevent dust and debris from building up in your air ducts, and will help keep the air in your house clean and healthy. It will also allow your AC to run efficiently, thereby using less power and helping keep your utility bills lower.

For those of you living in or near Canyon Lake air conditioning is probably something that’s been in your home for years. Like Murrieta, and all other cities across the country, your air conditioning system is not immune to needing routine maintenance to ensure it stays up to par with what you’ve come to expect. Remember that a clean and efficiently running system is healthier for you and your family, and is easier on your pocket book.

In Menifee air conditioning is a must. With temperatures reaching well into the triple digits during the summer months, being without an air conditioning system is torture. Luckily for you, now is the perfect time to get a new air conditioning system installed. Why spend another miserable summer slowly cooking alive when getting a new AC system is so easy? Just give us a call, and we’ll take care of it for you.

All in all, whether you live in Menifee or Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore or Temecula, now is the perfect time to get your AC unit up to standards to keep you comfortable this summer. With those mind melting temperatures closely approaching, you probably don’t want to wait very much longer.
